New to jiu-jitsu?

Nobody walks in ready. That is the point.

The fear of the first class stops more people than the class ever does. Here is exactly how it goes.

Morning light spilling through the academy entrance onto the mats

01Show up.

Come as you are. No experience, no gi, no fitness bar to clear. Loaner gis are here.

02Get a guide.

An instructor walks you through your first class. Kind, patient, world-class.

03Leave taller.

One hour on the mat and the intimidation is gone. Most people book their second class before they leave.

How rank works

Hold to earn your black belt.

Press and hold the button to progress the belt from white through blue, purple, and brown to black. Releasing early lets the progress ease back.

That is the whole system. Show up, put in the time, and the rank takes care of itself. White to black, every belt is earned on these mats.

The room

Take their word for it.

“Joined being completely new in martial arts and nervous. I was immediately met with friendly faces and great people. Everyone treats each other with respect and honesty. Great professors and staff.”

“Awesome environment for kids and adults! The Professor and coaches are great with the kids, classes are challenging but most importantly fun. I signed my daughter up and after a few months, I had to come too.”

Darin Jones · Google review

Questions

The things people ask before they start.

I'm out of shape. Can I still start?

Yes. You get in shape by training, not before it. Fundamentals classes are built for day one.

Am I too old for this?

We have students in their teens and students in their sixties. You roll at your pace, always.

Will I get hurt?

Jiu-jitsu is the gentle art. You learn to fall safely before anything else, and training partners look after each other here.

Do I need a gi or any gear?

Not for your first class. Comfortable athletic clothes are enough. Loaner gis are available.

Is it right for my kid?

Little Champions starts at age four. Discipline, focus, and confidence, taught through games and technique.
